01. Overview

The main task for this project was to redesign the experience and interface of the invite user model on the GoLinks platform.

In addition, we aimed to standardize this across all products in the GoLinks suite (GoLinks, GoSearch and GoProfiles) that uses this invite process. .

02. Problem

Previously, there was a fractured experience between the different integrations and between the products in the GoLinks suit.

For Google, the modal displays a mixed list of users who can be invited and users who have pending invites. However, nothing was shown for Slack.

🏗️ Iterations

When starting the design process, several factors needed to be considered to be added to the experience:

  • Users that haven’t been invited yet

  • Users that are pending invite

  • Users who are already using the product

In terms of interfaces, I wanted to incorporate components from the previous design on the GoProfiles platform since the new design will be utilized as a standardized design.

This had the advantage of not causing a sudden shift or altering the users' experience, which could act as a barrier.

With these in mind, I made various iterations that implemented experiences such as accordions, check boxes, selectors, and more.

👆🏻 Actions

In terms of actions, users can hover over the switch icon to get indication of the purpose of the icon button.

Hover states were added to each profile for additional visual queues and finally, selectors will have a dropdown menu to allow users to filter out the information on the modal.

After reviewing the iterations, we decided to add a dropdown selector to allow users to easily filter out the profiles along with the search bar.

A global check box was added to easily select all profiles, which will be beneficial with there is a large number of profiles that needs to be invited.

The “Switch […] account” button was changed into an icon next to the account name to allow users to easily distinguish the account they are accessing.

Finally, the updated designs were implemented to all three invite modals (Google Directory, Slack, and Microsoft Teams) for a unified experience.
