Product Design Intern
A stepping stone in my career
I had the opportunity to experience the fast-paced and enjoyable atmosphere of a start-up while gaining countless hands-on experiences building user interfaces and experiences for parts of SaaS platforms such as GoLinks and GoProfiles.
This opportunity constantly reminded me how much more I needed to learn. It also influenced the way I design and approach problems by allowing me to explore areas that I previously neglected.

Jots
A new feature on GoLinks platform that allows users to quickly jot down their notes without using external platforms.
Collaborators:
01. Overview
Jots is a new feature on the GoLinks platform that simplifies note-taking and sharing. With Jots, users can easily jot down notes without needing external platforms like Google Docs.
The feature allows users to view, edit, and format notes with options such as code snippets, alignments, and more, making it versatile for various needs.
Additionally, users can create a unique go link, enabling seamless sharing across teams and workflows.
02. Problem
⏱️ Time-consuming process:
Going to an external platform to create a new document, formatting, inviting and sharing takes time, especially for quick, informal notes or ideas.
🖥️ Fragmented workflow:
Switching between multiple platforms disrupts focus and flow, particularly when users need to jump from one tool to another for documentation and then return to their main tasks.
🗂️ Inconsistent document management:
Notes and documents can become scattered across different platforms, leading to disorganization, difficulty in retrieving past notes and documents, or losing track of where something is saved.
🔗 Limited integration with GoLinks:
External platforms like Google Docs don't offer tight integration with GoLinks, leading to less efficient sharing, tracking, and collaboration, especially when notes need to be connected with specific go links.
03. Design Process
🏁 Initial Stage
🔍 Market Research and User Flow
✍🏻 Sketching
The design process for Jots began with a Product Requirements Document (PRD) provided by my mentor.
The PRD outlined the essential functionality that this feature needed to offer, including efficient note-taking directly on the GoLinks platform, formatting options, and seamless sharing through go links.
To understand how leading note-taking platforms addressed similar user needs, I conducted market research using Mobbin and tried them out myself.
This gave me valuable insights into existing solutions and their strengths and weaknesses. With this knowledge, I created a user flow to visualize how users would interact with Jots.
This helped identify key steps in the process and ensured the feature would provide a smooth, intuitive experience for users as they navigated through jotting down notes, formatting content, and sharing via go links.
With the user flow in place, I moved into the sketching phase. I drafted quick sketches that laid out the different interactions and elements needed for the feature.
At this stage, I experimented with various ways to streamline the note-taking process, focusing on simplicity and usability.
I sketched potential layouts and started identifying the key UI elements that would provide the most seamless experience.
🏗️ Low-Fidelity Wireframes
Next, I turned the sketches into low-fidelity wireframes using assets from the GoLinks design system. This allowed me to refine the layout and ensure the feature integrated well into the existing platform.
Throughout this phase, I collaborated closely with my mentors to ensure the wireframes aligned with the PRD. Together, we iterated on different ideas, refining the UI and flow to focus on core actions like jotting down notes and creating go links.
👏🏻 Iterations and Final Design
After multiple iterations and feedback sessions, we arrived at a final design that emphasized a simple, streamlined experience for users to "Jot something down."
We kept the design minimal to reduce cognitive load, making it easy for users to focus on the task at hand. Minimal design also improved the speed of interaction, allowing users to quickly take notes, format content, and share it seamlessly. Crucial actions, such as creating go links, were made prominent to ensure easy access without interrupting the user’s workflow.
By tying the new Jots feature into the GoLinks ecosystem, we created an efficient, integrated experience that would enhance productivity and make note-taking an intuitive part of the platform.
